LM FlyingT Allegra, a unique collaboration between MB&F and Bulgari

What happens when you combine the creative power behind Rome's most famous luxury shopping mall with the creative minds behind some of the most radical whims in the watchmaking industry? The answer is pure magic. The collaboration between Bulgari and MB&F, or more precisely, between Bulgari’s creative director Fabrizio Buonamassa and MB&F’s founder and creative director Maximilie Busser, led to this difference Usually take the old machine FlyingT, exuberant, MB&F's first high-jewelry version of the ladies' watch. If... isn't it cool? As Maximilian Büsser explained in our exclusive video interview (at the top of this article), many collaborations start with the optimistic "will it be cool if...", but usually, the conditional tense is never exceeded limits. Four years ago, during Dubai Watch Week, Max Büsser met Bulgari's legendary creative director Fabrizio Buonamassa (the genius behind the Octo Finissimo watch series design and Serpenti's rebirth), and he expressed his admiration for MB&F products. Two years later, during GPHG 2019, Büsser and Buonamassa met again, this time with Antoine Pin, head of the Bvlgari watch department, and discussed the possibility of cooperation. However, the "hypothesis" did not become a reality until Dubai Watch Week 2019. Naturally, Büsser was surprised that a giant luxury brand like Bulgari would be passionate about independent watchmakers. One plus one equals three Büsser's pursuit of cooperative projects began before MB&F was founded in 2005. As the managing director of Harry Winston Rare Timepieces, Büsser's highest achievement is the Opus series, which is a series of extraordinary timepieces produced in collaboration with independent watchmakers. Although the collaboration with Bvlgari will surprise many people, this is not the first time MB&F has participated in a high-jewellery rodeo. MB&F FLYINGT LM FlyingT is Büsser's first ladies' watch, breaking MB&F's 14-year tradition of meticulously planning and complicated men's watches. FlyingT was launched in 2019 and aims to provide women with the same complexity and 3D spectacle as the MB&F men's watch by placing a flying tourbillon in the center of the dial. Supported by the vertical column structure, the flying tourbillon rises conspicuously from the deep well and rotates for one minute under the high dome glass. The development of the film-like flying tourbillon required a breakthrough technical solution. The tourbillon protrudes out of the dial and is fixed in place with diamonds. Although most modern watch movements rely on radial and coplanar methods, FlyingT uses vertical and coaxial methods. Another challenge in the FlyingT construction involves the shape of the upper tourbillon frame. Because it has more mass on one side, it must be compensated. The solution is to place a hidden counterweight under the tourbillon case. The charming hour and minute dial is located at 7 o'clock at a 50° angle and is designed to allow only the wearer to check the time. Again, Büsser's idea is not straightforward, it involves combining bevel gears to transmit torque from one plane to another.

The "Allegra" part of the watch name is taken from Bulgari's Allegra watch, which is a jewelry model with gems of different sizes and different colors hanging on the outer bezel. There is another model, the Astrale Jewelry Watch, which is surrounded by colored gemstones on the dial, which also incorporates the design of FlyingT Allegra. When Buonamassa started sketching, he envisioned FlyingT as a miniature planetarium, studded with bold and colorful gems, like planets floating around the central tourbillon.
The five gems set on the FlyingT dial are different in color, size and shape. The dial is set with brilliant-cut white diamonds (0.24 carats) glittering snowflakes as the background, inlaid with tsavorite, topaz, amethyst, tanzanite, rubellite and tourmaline, arranged on the track surrounding the tourbillon hole. As Antoine Pin pointed out in the interview, Bvlgari's gem setters have no problem setting gems on the dial, thanks to the volume provided by Flying T's high domed sapphire crystal glass. The hour and minute dials are also paved with diamonds, respecting the serpentine hands, which is the iconic feature of this Replica watch Price.
New chassis design Buonamassa interprets the high domed volume of the case as a flying saucer from the 1950s or 1960s. Compared with the original case of FlyingT, from the side, you can see that the case has actually lost the middle of the case and the lugs. The lugs are barely visible on the FlyingT Allegra, highlighting the watch's dome flying saucer outline. FlyingT’s original 38.5 mm case size was slightly increased to 39 mm to accommodate the new shape and the brilliant cut diamonds (2.80 carats) set in the case and clasp. Even the crowns at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock have been enlarged and are now inlaid with colored stones. Solar rotor The back cover shows the sun-shaped oscillating weight, with its sandblasted golden light spinning on a ruthenium disk above the platinum counterweight.
